Multi-Factor Authentication

What is Multi-factor Authentication?

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide additional verification factors to gain access to a resource such as the DXC Spend Analytics Observatory. This is may also be referred to as Two-Step Verification. Rather than just asking for a username and password, once setup, MFA requires an additional verification factor, which decreases the likelihood of an unauthorised operator gaining access to your organisations data.

Why is MFA Important?

The main benefit of MFA is it will enhance your organisation's security by requiring your users to identify themselves by more than a username and password. The use of an MFA factor provides increased confidence that your data will stay safe.

How Does MFA Operate in the Observatory?

Within the Observatory, MFA works by requiring users to enter an additional security code provided by an Authenticator App, once the user has entered a username and password. Individual users have the ability to enable MFA on their own user account.

Please refer to the User Guide below to learn how to enable MFA.

Should you encounter any difficulties enabling or using MFA, please contact the support team.

Organisation Wide Enablement

Owing to the need to register MFA credentials, the use of MFA cannot currently be made compulsory for all users. If you have a requirement to enable MFA for all users at your organisation, please reach out to the support team so we can assist you in a coordinated communications campaign.
